TIPS AND TRICKS FOR LAYERING A CAKE

Layered cakes are loved by all. However working a lot on layered cakes over years we have gathered some pretty cool tricks that have helped us feel more comfortable while layering a cake. These tricks will make you more confident as well..

TIP 1: BAKE IN DIFFERENT CAKE MOULDS

Baking in single mold and layering them later will be much more difficult. So working on different molds and layering later will be much more easier.

TIP2: TRIM YOUR CAKE LAYERS

For layering a cake ang keeping it straight and stable its important to have even layers and that's why we trim each layer separately before stacking it up.

Pro Tip- Allow your cake to cool down before trimming as warm cakes are much more delicate.

TIP3: WORK ON A FLAT SURFACE

Before layering your cake it is very important to have a flat and steady surface and if it is turntable its even a better choice. While purchasing turntable prefer heavy material instead of cheap quality which will be a great investment.

Once you start layering smear a small amount of frosting on it before placing the first layer. This will help stick the cake to the base.

TIP 4: USE SUGAR SYRUP

It is important to brush some sugar syrup on each layer so that cake doesn't dry out and stays moist.

It is very simple to make sugar syrup just add water to granulated sugar in 1:1 ratio and cook on the stove until sugar melts and syrup became a bit thick in consistency.

TIP 5: USE A STABLE FROSTING

A stable frosting will hold everything together. If you feel your frosting is bit floppy allow it to rest in refrigerator for few hours and makes your job easier. Some of the best frosting to choose from is-

1. Buttercream Frosting

2. Chocolate Ganache

3. Cream Cheese
